This summer at the Savage Club Finland meeting there was a guy with a bike that had 75k km on the clock. The only repair done to this bike was the exchange of the camchain tensioner. He said he does all the maintenance himself, according to the manual. Nothing special. Normal 10W-40 four stroke engine oil (for cars, not the expensive stuff "especially for your demanding baby"..)
The Savage is a wellmade bike. Extremly good quality if compared to the cheap price, in my opinion. Thumpers normally last an eternity compared to other engines, and can be renovated "ad infinitum". Very few things can go wrong in such a simple and durable engine.
Treat it well and it will keep you happy.
Peter.
